SUE WEBSTER
A REVERIE & DUST

Sue Webster’s two bodies of work have been influenced by familial relationships, the love we share and the part that time and memory play in our evolving web of interdependence.

Sue is drawn by the way we observe our surroundings, frequently hurried, and taking for granted the things that surround us. To really see something requires us to pause, concentrate and look more deeply. The closer we look the more detail we observe, things long forgotten re-emerge, details not seen before gain significance.

A Reverie represents the personal journey in the relationship between her daughter and herself. The images present fragments of memory, reflecting the sense of flux created by the passage of time.

The second group of images grew from a poem written by her father, thirty years ago. At a time where her relationship with him is withering as he declines into dementia his words gained a greater significance. The work takes the same title as his poem, Dust.
